South Florida high hands, tournaments in February

I’m going to try something new, and round up all the poker promotions in one article. Here’s what’s up in February:
The big news is the Casino @ Dania’s first full month of poker, so here’s what they’re rolling out: Tournaments are at 1 p.m. Sunday for $50 and 7 p.m. Wednesday for $65. A “Dawn Patrol” high hand of $250 every hour from 9 a.m. to noon, $200 every 20 minutes from noon to midnight and a one-time $500 high hand from midnight to close. Friday winners from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. also get an iPad mini. The bad beat starts at Quad 8s and is $20K. Royal flushes pay $500 (two cards in hand).

The Isle Casino in Pompano Beach has a $70 tournament at 11 a.m. Sundays with $10 bounties and a $2,000 guaranteed prize pool. They also have a “Bankroll Maker” event with $100 Day 1s at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 22. The finals are at noon Feb. 23. Each flight’s chip leader also nets $500 and the event carries a $35,000 guarantee.

The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has a one-day “holiday tournament” at 11 a.m. Feb. 15 with a $30K prize pool for a $250 buy-in. The winner also gets a seat into the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship in April. A “Tuesday Special” is at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 with a $20K pool, $150 buy-in and another seat into the Showdown. Bonus high hands of $1,000 every 30 minutes with rollovers: Sunday, Feb. 7, from 2 to 10 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 15, from noon to 8 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 18, and Thursday, Feb. 25 from 6 p.m. to midnight; Friday, Feb. 19, and Friday, Feb. 26, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. with payouts of $1,000 with rollovers.

The first poker event in a four-week “Escalator Series” at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino begins today (Wednesday). Buy-in is $150 for the $100,000 guarantee event. Players can enter at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. starting Wednesday, Feb. 3 through Feb. 5. The following week is a $200,000 guarantee event, followed by a $300,000 tournament, and a $400,000 climax Feb. 25-28. Those who make the final table on any of the first three events will receive an entry into the following week’s tournament. The final two players in each event will receive an entry in to the next big tournament at the Hollywood poker room: The $3,500 buy-in WPT Showdown championship in April.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek has The Andy Slater “See You Later” tournament at 6 p.m. Feb. 9. Buy-in is $94 and the event carries a $20K guarantee. High hands are $100 every 30 minutes from 2:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., then $150 every 30 minutes Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesdays, aces full or better pay $130 and royal flushes pay $500 immediately, from 9 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday high hands are $199 every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to noon, $250 every 20 minutes from 12:20 p.m. to 6 p.m. and $500 on the half-hour, $1,000 on the hour (with rollover) from 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. High hand bonus days are $500 every 20 minutes from 6:20 p.m. to 2 a.m. Feb. 2, 8, 16 and 23.

At Magic City Casino, it’s $1,500 high hands from 10 a.m. to noon on weekdays, $250 every 30 minutes from 1-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, $400 every 30 minutes from noon to 2 a.m. On weekends, it’s $1,000 from 10 a.m. to noon, $400 every 30 minutes from noon to 4 p.m., $250 every 30 minutes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and $400 again every 30 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. A big slick heart royal flush pays $20K, with everyone else in the hand getting $500. Other big slick royals pay $1,000 and all other royals are $500. Tournaments are at 8 p.m. Monday ($80) and 2 p.m. Thursday ($50).

Mardi Gras has free-roll tournaments at 7 p.m. nightly. Weeknights, there’s a $1,500 total prize money guarantee, with a $100 high hand paid out. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it’s $2,500 with a $200 high hand. The big event is the weekly 1 p.m. Sunday free-roll, with a whopping $10K guarantee. Meanwhile high hands are $500 in $1-$2 to $1,000 in $2-$5 no-limit and run every 30 minutes from noon to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and noon to midnight on weekends.
I’ll try to include  Hialeah, Gulfstream Park and the Miccosukees if I do this again in March.
