Lots of poker events upcoming in South Florida
Hialeah Park has tournaments with $5,000, $10,000 and $15,000 guarantees to start the month, then finishes with a $75,000 big event Jan. 26-31. The $5,000 guarantees cost $75 and are at 7 p.m. Monday and Jan. 25. The $10K costs $100 and one was today, with others Jan. 16 and 23. The $15K costs $125 and is at 6 p.m. Wednesday and Jan. 20. The $75K is $100 and players can enter Jan. 26-30. Go to HialeahPark.com.
The Lucky Hearts Poker Open, a series of 15 tournaments, began Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. The first tournament, with a $350 buy-in, accepts entrants through Sunday. The main event begins Thursday (Jan. 14) and consists of $1 million in guaranteed prize money. The total payout likely will be more, as players’ entry fees have surpassed (well, actually smashed) the total promised in most of the Seminole Hard Rock poker events in 2015. This one costs $1,100 to enter, but there are three starting days (Jan. 14-16) so a field well past the necessary 1,000 or so is expected. Go to SHRPO.com.
The monthly Andy Slater “See You Later” Tournament is at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and has a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool. Buy-in is $94. Go to SeminoleCoconutCreekCasino.com.
Note that these are just three events. I’ll add more soon, including an update on Mardi Gras.
