Anybody who has ever hit a high hand early during a time period can identify with sweating out each minute of the clock running down. Well, Gulfstream Park now has promotions that reward being the first up on the high hand board. The card room has added a “King of the Hill” payout, meaning if you’re the first person to qualify for a high hand and it holds up to the end of the time period, you garner an extra $250. Gulfstream has added other new bonuses in May: Quad kings wins $250 instantly, hitting your high hand on the flop garners a $250 bonus and players now qualify for the full payout if they have either one or two cards that make the high hand. (It used to be players received half the posted amount if they hit it with one card.) High hands are $500 from 1-10 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays, $250 Mondays through Wednesdays. Tournaments are at 7 p.m. and cost $70 Monday, $90 Tuesday, $50 Wednesday (PLO), $110 Thursday, $70 Friday, $50 Saturday (with $10 rebuys), and $100 Sunday. Hialeah Park’s food is probably the tops among South Florida poker rooms, and they’re now flaunting it. Those who enter the 7 p.m. Monday night tournaments get a free buffet. Buy-in is $75 and the events carry a $5,000 guarantee. There are also $100 tournaments at 6 p.m. Wednesdays with a $10K guarantee and $100 bounty tournaments at 7 p.m. Saturdays with $5K guarantees. There also is a $10K tournament at noon Memorial Day, May 30, for $75. High hands include $500 every 30 minutes from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and noon to midnight on Fridays. The high hands are $500 every 15 minutes on May 5, 11, 17 and 30, plus, there’s a Mother’s Day bonus: Women who win a high hand on Sunday get $50 extra.
At the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, $500 high hands will take place every half hour from 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays, the high hand will take place every 30 minutes from 12:30 p.m. to midnight and payouts up to $1,000. $1,000 Bonus High Hands with Rollovers are from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, May 6, Thursday, May 12 and Thursday, May 26, and 4 p.m. to midnight May 30.

Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Championship Mega Satellite Step Satellites are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, Thursday, May 5, Tuesday, May 10, Thursday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 31. The step satellites include a five-seat guarantee into the $570 buy-in Mega Satellites and feature a $135 buy-in. The Friday Special Deep Stack offers a $10,000 guaranteed prize pool featuring a $130 buy-in at 6 p.m. May 6. A seat into the $5,250 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5 Million Guaranteed Championship will be awarded to the winner. The Thursday Night Bounty Special offers a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool featuring a $150 buy-in at 6 p.m. May 12. A seat into the $1,650 May Deep Stack will be awarded to the winner. The Tuesday Night Special features a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool with a $150 buy-in at 6 p.m. May 17. A seat into the $1,650 May Deep Stack will be awarded to the winner. Then comes the Seminole Hard Rock Deepstack Poker Series, which consists of seven events and buy-ins ranging from $150 to $1,650. The tournament series is especially popular for those who like to sit down with loads of chips: Starting stacks range from 30,000 in the early events to 50,000 for the main event.

Seminole Casino Coconut Creek has the Andy Slater “See You Later” monthly event at 6 p.m. May 10. Buy-in is $94 for the $20,000 guarantee. $20K guarantee tournaments for $130 buy-in are at 6 p.m. May 18 and 23. A $100K guarantee with entries at noon and 6 p.m. for $130 May 25-28 is also scheduled. High hand bonus days are from 6:20 p.m. to 2 a.m. May 5, 9, 17, 24 & 30. It’s $500 every 20 minutes, with rollover.

The Isle Casino & Racing in Pompano Beach has three large events early in the month. Players can enter Day 1 of a $170 buy-in ($50 bounties), $125,000 guarantee at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. May 4, 5 and 6. Day 2 is May 7. Similarly, a $120 buy-in, $110K guarantee, run by the PPC, has Day 1s at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. or 7 p.m. May 9-11, with Day 2 on May 12. Also, there are $1,000 high hands every 30 minutes from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. May 21 and 28, $500 high hands every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 2, 16, 23 and 30, noon to 9 p.m. May 18 and 25 and noon to midnight May 20 and 27. Free rolls: $5,000 at 6 p.m. May 3 and 17 and 10 a.m. May 21; $2,000 at 10 a.m. May 18 and 25.

The Casino @ Dania has tournaments at 1 p.m. Sunday for $45 and 7 p.m. Wednesday for $80. High hands are $500 every 30 minutes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., $900 every hour from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Royal flushes pay $500 (two cards in hand). The card room also announced “random rewards” throughout the month.

Mardi Gras has free-roll tournaments at 7 p.m. nightly. Weeknights, there’s a $1,500 total prize money guarantee. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, it’s $2,500. The big event is the weekly 1 p.m. Sunday free-roll, with a $10K guarantee. The high hands (aces full of anything) are still $500 in $1-$2 to $1,000 in $2-$5 no-limit and run every 30 minutes with rollover from noon to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and noon to midnight on weekends.

At Magic City Casino, it’s $1,500 high hands from 10 a.m. to noon on weekdays, $250 every 30 minutes from 1-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, $400 every 30 minutes from noon to 2 a.m. On weekends, it’s $1,000 from 10 a.m. to noon, $400 every 30 minutes from noon to 4 p.m., $250 every 30 minutes from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and $400 again every 30 minutes from 8 p.m. to midnight. A big slick heart royal flush pays $20K, with everyone else in the hand getting $500. Other big slick royals pay $1,000 and all other royals are $500. Tournaments are at 8 p.m. Monday ($80) and 2 p.m. Thursday ($50).

Miccosukee Resort & Gaming has “Progressive Mania,” where quads and straight flushes are paid according to a chart. From 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, it’s “Spin for Cash,” where the hourly high hand spins the wheel and wins $50 to $1,000. The weekend high hand is 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. and is $100 every 15 minutes. Free roll tournaments: Sunday @ 2pm H/L, Tuesday @7pm H/L Bounty, Thursday @7pm H/L, Saturday@2pm Crazy Pineapple. There’s a $10 jackpot fee and a $2,150 prize pool. On April 15 and 29 is a $125 tournament, with a $10K guarantee starting at 5 p.m.
