Nice Tuesday blues series at Mardi Gras Casino

Anybody who has every had an unlucky night at the casino can identify with the blues. And starting Sept. 6, Mardi Gras Casino will bring in some impressive performers to make you feel ‘em deep, deep down.

The shows will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays on the casino’s main stage.

Here’s the lineup:

Sept. 6: Selwyn Birchwood, a 6-foot-3 (taller with Afro) 29-year-old who often plays barefoot. More notably, he’s known for winning the international blues challenge in Memphis in 2013 and was the subject of a 2014 story by yours truly.

Sept. 13: Nick Moss, a Chicagoan who has the stamp of approval from Hall of Famer Buddy Guy.

Sept. 20: JD Simo, a power trio from Nashville, with a new CD Let Love Show the Way, mixing jazz improvisation, downhome blues and classic R&B.

Sept. 27: Jeremiah Johnson, born and raised in St. Louis, seasoned his songwriting by spending a decade on the Gulf Coast of Texas.

The casino is at  831 N. Federal Highway. Call 954-924-3200 or visit Follow @MardiGrasFl.
