Poker wins blow favorably for Gulf Breeze man

John Dollinger, of Gulf Breeze, won the main event Monday at the Isle Battles at the Beach. He earned $181,117.

The $1,500 buy-in event at the Isle Casino and Racing in Pompano Beach attracted 516 entrants.

Raminder Singh of Delray Beach was second ($106,580), followed by Edward Mandel of Hollywood ($68,963) and David Hixson of Hollywood ($47,021).

The Battles at the Beach series consisted of 12 events, and began with a $75 tournament that carried a $50,000 guarantee. A $570 tournament ($300K guarantee) and a $350 ($300K) followed.

Meanwhile, the Isle has $1,000 high hands every 30 minutes from 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 26, as well as $500 high hands every 20 minutes on March 28.

Tournaments set for after the series include a $2,000 free roll freeze-out at 10 a.m. March 30 and a $75 buy-in at 6 p.m. March 29.
