Game of Thrones slot at Seminole Hard Rock
Kings and queens are common casino images. Demons and dragons less so. And never has a slot player entered the fictional continent of Westeros.
Until now. “Game of Thrones” slot machines made their debut earlier this year at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, and now as Season 6 of the show begins on HBO Sunday, they’re poised to be installed at casinos across South Florida.
The game features clips from the show (based on George R.R Martin’s series of fantasy novels) and is loaded with animation and graphics in the quest for the Iron Throne. Features include the Battle of Blackwater Bay, the Wall and Mother of Dragons.
Like the show, the machine is big and imposing. It’s almost double the size of a traditional slot, with two large curved screens stacked on top of each other.
Aristocrat, based in Las Vegas, introduced the game last year, and it won awards at conventions where new games are being introduced. (Yes, such conventions exist.)
It’s noteworthy that Aristocrat is doing such a quick turn, releasing a game from a hot show. (“Game of Thrones” won 12 Emmys last year.) The other hot games listed this year are from the movie “Caddyshack” and “The Simpsons.”
Note to all those who follow the show: No, the machine’s video clips don’t provide any forecasts on the future of popular character Jon Snow, who died last season.
“I spent $50 on it, and, nope, not a clue,” one player said.
