The revamped casino at Dania Beach is looking at a mid-January opening, CEO Scott Savin said Thursday. The Dania Beach jai-alai fronton will have a renewed emphasis on the game, as well as 884 slots machines, 23 poker tables and a lot of entertainment.
Shows will be on the second-floor concert area Stage 954. Savin also manages Magic City Casino in Miami, whose owners bought one-fourth of Dania and will run it. Stage 954 is modeled after Magic City’s Stage 305 in Miami-Dade and will be located in the area that had been used for slots during Dania’s brief 2014 opening.
Booked so far: Jefferson Starship Feb. 27 at Dania, Foreigner March 11 at Dania and March 12 at Magic City, comic Ralphie May March 18 at Dania and March 19 at Magic City and Air Supply, April 15 at Magic City and April 16 at Dania.
“By giving them two dates, we are able to bring in shows that might have gone elsewhere,” Savin said.
The casino’s first billboard is up, at I-95 and I-595, and features jai-alai. Savin says screens showing live action will be in the line of sight of almost every slot player, which would spread a kind of a live-action vibe throughout the place.
The official title of the venue is “the Casino @ Dania” which I kind of find annoying because it’s too much like Twitter, but what the heck. Get more info at CasinoDaniaBeach.com.
