Brews a-plenty at Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras Homebrew contest It’s Florida, so of course Sunshine State of Mind is a good thing. The Slam That, Taste This Brewery took home first prize in the third annual Mardi Gras Casino Homebrew Competition Saturday, beating out about 30 opponents. The brewery’s concoction was titled “Sunshine State of Mind,” and earned the $1,000 prize. Next was Humble Abby Brewery, earning $500 for Sweet Cider and Infected Brewery ($250) for El-Coki. Meanwhile, the casino’s big January promotioin, New Year New Ride, runs from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesdays. The goal is to get an entry into the drawing for a Dodge Challenger to be given away at 9 p.m. Jan. 26. At 10 p.m. Jan. 26, the prize is $2,016 cash. The casino is at 831 N. Federal Highway.
