Seminole Hard Rock hosts WSOP-C The World Series of Poker Circuit Series makes its first-ever stop at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. The first of 14 events begins Thursday with a tournament that guarantees $500,000 in prize money. Entry is $580. The main event, which costs $1,675, runs Sept. 29-Oct. 2. Maurice Hawkins counter-sues

Hawkins files suit in broken staking case Poker pro Maurice Hawkins has filed a counter-suit after a Tallahassee lawyer sued him over a broken staking arrangement. Hawkins’ lawyer, Scott Jay Feder of Coral Gables, filed the counter-suit on Aug. 25 in Leon County. The suit asks for $15,000 in damages plus a yet-undecided amount via a slander claim based on comments they say Hawkins’ former backer, Hal Lewis, posted statements on Twitter and the internet.
